T-bone impact Whiplash Injury Headache & Stiff Neck Lower Back Pain
What to do when an accident comes to you... |
  1. Look forward: having your head turned upon impact can cause serious long term problems. So turn to the front.
2. Push into the brake HARD: Pushing into the brake will stop the car from lurching forward with unbelievable acceleration. This will help prevent more serious facet imbrications and tearing.
3. Tense up and push your body into the seat.
4. After impact, access the situation.
5. Think safety: Many fatalities happen after the accident happens. So get your car and, more importantly, yourself to a safe area.
6. Call 911.
7. Get pertinent info ALWAYS.
8. Go to the hospital: Document everything and rule out serious problems.
9. Follow your doctor's orders and ice, ice, ice. 20 minutes on, an hour off for the first three days.
10. Get to a chiropractor or therapist who has the experience and training to handle these types of cases. This is crucial in the first 6-8 weeks. Most Aupucturists, Family Doctors, Massage Therapists or Physical Therapists are not trained to assess specific mechanism of car accident injuries. Waiting can cause scar tissue and other serous dysfunctions that are much harder to treat after the fact. |
